Banged up Abroad
On Thursday night, I watched a t.v. program called 'Banged Up Abroad' on the Crime channel. It was a story about a Scotsman who was sentenced to four years jail in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is a Muslim country where alcohol is banned. He brought more whiskey in than he was allowed and gave some to members of the royal family. the royals informed on him to the police. When he went to court, the judge wrote the sentence on a piece of paper, as is the custom in Saudi Arabia, and the guy couldn't read it. However, another prisoner, an Egyptian who could speak English, translated and told him he was getting four years in prison with four hundred and fifty lashes. The Scotsman got out after two years and I found the story interesting.
