On
Tuesday 30th July, I got a surprise in the mail from Jamie Howe to whom I sent
my book about autism it was a Central Districts playing Shirt which had
belonged to Jacob Oram. I met Jamie in Nelson a couple of times outside the Trailways
Hotel when the Central Districts cricket team werestaying there. I am a big fan
of his and he always seemed pleased to see me. When I met him at Saxton Oval, I
said to him “In your last one day international, in March 2011, during the
World Cup, you were LBW to Umar Gul against Pakistan in Sri Lanka.” He replied “Correct”.
I hope he makes it back into the Black Caps some day. He has been an
International since December 2005, when he made his one day debut against Sri
Lanka at Queenstown. He also made his test debut in March 2006 against the West
Indies in Auckland.
