The
Summer of 2018/19 has been one of the hottest and driest summers in Nelson
since 1941. Whilst I like summer I don't like it to be too hot or too dry for
too long. However, I don't like it to rain too much in winter either. The best
days are the fine frosty days of winter. It was dry in Nelson for some 40 days
without rain and there were so many fires in the Nelson/Tasman area. The Walters Bluff fire was
very scary because it was not far away from my house. I do believe in climate change.
Around this time last Summer we had a tropical cyclone which caused a lot
flooding out in nearby Riwaka. I certainly hope next summer is not as dry but with
everything like rain and sun in moderation.
