On
October 26th, I went to see the Tasman Mako play The Wellington Lions at
Trafalgar Park. It was Tasman's first home final Since 2013 when they went up
from Division 2 to Division 1. It was almost sold out and that is pretty good
for domestic rugby. The Mako went onto win by 31 to 14 and go through the
season unbeaten with 12 wins. Scoring 409 points and conceding only 123. I met
up with commentators Tony Johnson and Australian Owen Finigan who I see when I
go to Wellington. It was also nice to see Liam Squire playing as a winner in
his last game for the Mako. He was Tasman's first All Black back in 2016.
I am looking forward to seeing Tasman Mako next year and hopefully a team like
Bay Of Plenty or Waikato come to Nelson because they haven't been to Nelson for
a while.
