Every
summer, I like to go to international cricket matches at Saxton Oval, in Nelson.
It has been hosting international cricket since January 2014. The first match
held was the Black Caps v West Indies and it has had 13 international matches
there, since. Eleven one day internationals and two twenty-twenty games. It has
almost had tour Matches. Both were against Pakistan one of which was rained out
completely. Saxton Oval has had teams from Ireland and England come to Nelson
and play. It has a capacity of 6000 and it was close to that when it hosted
England on November 5th. England was the biggest team to come to Nelson and
face the Black Caps. I believe Nelson will, one day, host a test match against
someone like Bangladesh or West Indies.
