I have been to three
different schools in my life. Tahunanui primary from October 1986 to September
1989. Saint Joseph's primary and intermediate from September 1989 to December
1994. Finally Nayland College from February 1995 to November 1998. I hated
going to school, full stop, because I didn't have friends and found fitting in
with my peers very hard. Back in those days, no one knew much about autism. And,
while I was good at things like current affairs and times tables, I was not
good at other subjects and keeping up with class work which was frustrating. I
was glad when I left school.
