I lived in the Nelson beach suburb of Tahunanui from 1981 to 1991. I have lots of fond memories of living there like playing soccer for Tahunanui from 1988 to 1990. I resigned from the team after telling the referee how to run the game which was because of my autism. I went to school there from 1986 to 1989 then went to Saint Joseph's. There was no special needs education at Tahunanui school but the principal, Ray Carter, was kind enough to give me time off to go and see the Pakistan v New Zealand cricket game at the Basin Reserve in 1989. We Lived in a two bedroom flat in Tahunanui and my sister and I shared a room.
