On September 2nd I met with some Labour MP's who were visiting Nelson, Lemauga Lydia Sosene, Vaushal Waters, and Dan Rosewarne. Vaushal won the National stronghold seat of Upper Harbour in 2020 and is from Sri Lanka but raised in New Zealand. He was was born in 1981 and sits on the Justice Select Committee. Lemauga Lydia Sosene came to Parliament in April 2022 and replaced Louisa Wall as a list MP. She is based in Mangere and sits on the Health Committee. She liked my joke about the National Party being unable to count. Which is a joke from mum and talks about National not being able to form a government in 2017 despite having 10 more seats than Labour. Dan Rosewarne is a list MP from Waimakariri and used to be in the army. He came to Parliament in July 2022 and replaced Kris Fafoi. They liked my joke that if Christopher Luxon becomes Prime Minister then he will be able to feed the whole of North Island with a bucket of KFC and a loaf of bread. The meeting was at the River Kitchen and they were very down to Earth.
